Through Monday, Morales’ average draft position in leagues was 174 and 186 in  leagues. He’s been translating into a late-round Fantasy pick, and I think he’s going to end up as one of 2013’s biggest Draft Day steals.

You can fault me for putting too much stock into Morales’ spring numbers (.327 average, six HRs, 13 RBI in 15 games), but he’s just building off of what he did last season. Morales hit .278 with a .567 slugging percentage, .896 OPS, 13 homers, 15 doubles and 34 RBI in his final 51 games.

Morales had to go through an adjustment period last season because he missed so much time with an ankle injury. But it appears Morales is back to his old form and that’s great news for Fantasy owners.

Repeal Day celebration: Baseball-themed beer ads

Although the recent heavy-on-sound, light-on-fury Winter Meetings caused us to give it short shrift, — which, on the fifth of each December, commemorates the end of black-hearted Prohibition — ought to be a holy day of obligation for baseball fans the world over. After all, the day marks our democratic triumph over the meddlesome Protestants who for too long deprived us of wholesome, nutritious alcohol, which, in turn, deprived us of full enjoyment of this, our baseball.

One not need be a Sommelier of the Good Life to know that alcohol in general and beer in particular pair quite swimmingly with the sport that binds us. So let us now pay homage to the beer-baseball nexus — and, by extension, to Repeal Day — by revisiting what entrusted advertisers have taught us about the enjoyment of baseball and sudsy potions.

Come with me, won’t you?

: 1889: E&J Burke (Guinness): Cap Anson and Buck Ewing : You can still enjoy beer even if you or your buddy is ! : $188,000:

: 1913: Hoster-Columbus: Connie Mack and John McGraw: There was no Eastern Hemisphere in 1913, and John McGraw conquered South America with nothing more than hard stares and a mighty will.  :

: 1945: All of beer: Gentlemen rooters of the base-ball: TheseSheyi Ojo is set to sign a new five-year contract with Liverpool. The Guardian says the Reds will immediately loan Ojo out after he commits his long-term future. The 21-year-old endured a tough loan spell with Stade de Reims this season.Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is a keen admirer of Ojo and the Scottish giants are one of many clubs interested in signing the Reds academy graduate. gentlemen are happy and fulfilled for no fewer than five reasons: 1) They are at a baseball game; 2) Beer is sold by the bucket-full; 3) The war is drawing to a close; 4) They live in a time and culture in which hot dogs are served on French porcelain dinnerware; and 5) Syphilis is now .   :

: 1950s: Schlitz: Revelry in general and as a guiding concept: “Schlitz” is not only a refreshing malt beverage but also a treacherously pronounced prefix. Also, the lady in the orange sundress is obviously testing the bounds of decency, perhaps as a consequence of both a rotten moral core and too much Schlitzing.    :

: 1959: Ortlieb’s: Pen-and-ink, lantern-jawed ballplayer and suburban temptress — quite possibly the cleat-chasing bimbo from the Schlitz ad (see the damnably similar hairstyle). : Ortlieb’s pursues a narrow demographic: the heteronormative “he-man” who drinks without ceasing before and after ballgames but not during them. In contrast to other potable liquids, Ortlieb’s is “wet.”    :

: 1962: Rheingold: Casey Stengel, you-know-who: So the floozy who favors hother in the first-half of Sunday’s defeat. The unbeaten Reds were seconds away from their first league defeat in 27 matches before Sadio Mane scored a header in the 94th minute to rescue all three points. “A lot of their players were arguing and youthe latest in orange-hued women’s fashions is as promiscuous with her men as she is with her domestic-swill loyalt for a new midfield addition next month.Milan coach Stefano Pioli is eager to add a box-to-box midfielder over the winter market and their search is leading to the Premier League. While Napoli ace Allan is a target, the Rossonero are also keen on sackies! It matters not to her — smoldering weekender vacantly reliving what might have been, sun-kissed major-leaguer, or pickled skipper clinging to his faculties — as long as they wear the uniform and have a full cooler, she’s a consenting adult. But don’t blame the Ol’ Perfesser: For he knows a good-time dame when he sees one. Plus, syphilis has been cured for nigh 20 years or more! : , of all places

: 1970s: Pabst: Gorman Thomas. That has to be Gorman Thomas, right?: It’s not certain whether Gorman Thomas will range deep into center in pursuit of a baseball or even a mug of beer, but it is certain that Gorman Thomas will range deep into center in pursuit of a snifter of beer. And who can blame him?  :

Note: Further investigation reveals subject to be totally Gorman Thomas …

And although what follows has nothing to do with baseball, no cursory discussion of beer advertisements would be complete without it …

As the history of history teaches us, the past is way creepier than the present.

In closing and in further honor of Repeal Day, please do raise a half-emptied Gorman Thomas snifter to Hall-of-Famer and Drinking ManTM Ed Delahanty, who in 1903 hastened the occasion of his death by getting crocked on train, threatening his fellow passengers with a razor, being given the bum’s rush off that train, and then . “The Good Life,” is what they call it.

Cheers to baseball!

2019 NFL Quarterly Awards: Chiefs edge Patriots as Super Bowl favorite, but Patrick Mahomes isn’t unanimous MVP

It might be hard to believe, but we’re already 25% of the way through the 2019 NFL season. You know what that means: It’s time to redo  and hand out our quarterly awards. Below, seven writers here at CBS Sports submitted our quarterly predictions and awards.

It should come as no surprise to hear that you’ll see ‘ name a ton when it comes to both MVP and MVP, but it might surprise you to learn that one of our seven writers — cough cough Will Brinson cough cough — did not pick Mahomes as his MVP. Similarly, it might come as a surprise to hear that the did not receive the most votes for Super Bowl champion. What would’ve been surprising four weeks ago, but surely isn’t surprising now, is that edge rusher Shaq Barrett garnered six Defensive Player of the Year votes. Only one writer — cough cough Brinson cough cough — didn’t pick Barrett. Similarly, four weeks ago, nobody had Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew winning Offensive Rookie of the Year, but he’s our frontrunner through four weeks.

Brady Quinn joined Will Brinson on the Pick Six Podcast to break down their quarterly award selections. Check out the full show in the player below and be sure to  fired into your eardrums on the reg.

Anyway, that’s enough stalling and enough picking on Brinson.

On to all the picks.

Super Bowl champion

Belichick will add a pass catcher and OL if need be by the deadline, and this defense is ridiculous. They can win 12-10 every week if need be.

The way their defense is playing is amazing. The secondary might be the best they’ve ever had. And we know will be great in the playoffs.

: (over )

Sticking with my Vikings pick despite Kirk Cousins’ poor performance in big spots, but changing up from the because they lost Big Ben. Give me Patrick Mahomes on the other side.

I picked them before the season began and they have not given me any reason to move off them just yet. The Patriots look like they’ll make it extremely difficult for the Chiefs to even get to the Super Bowl, but I’m not taking them out of this spot before there’s cause for panic.

Yes, the Cowboys are coming off a tough loss to the but they still have one of the NFL’s best offenses — thanks largely to new offensive coordinator and the continued maturation of — and the defense, which is currently replacement-level, should only get better as the season progresses.

I picked the Chiefs before the season started and I wouldn’t be able to look at myself in the mirror if I changed my pick just four weeks into the season.

I picked the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl before the season and they’ve raced out to a 4-0 record, so it seems foolish to change my pick now — even though the Patriots will inevitably beat the Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game again en route to yet another championship.

Super Bowl MVP

Tom Brady

To the victorious Super Bowl QB go the spoils.

 Tom Brady

If they are winning it, he will want his. It’s that simple.

The engine of this offense and I have them winning so I’ll go with Cook exploding for like 250 yards or something.

Patrick Mahomes

It’s always the quarterback.

Dak Prescott

The longer the Cowboys wait to give Prescott a new deal the more it will require to lock him up long term. Prescott ranks No. 2 in total value among all QBs, according to Football Outsiders, behind only Patrick Mahomes. If Dallas is going to win the Super Bowl, it will have everything to do with Prescott.

Patrick Mahomes

If the Chiefs win the Super Bowl, there’s a 99.8 percent chance that Mahomes is going to be named the MVP, and that 99.8 percent chance moves up to 100 percent if he breaks every Super Bowl passing record ever, which seems like something he’s completely capable of doing.

Patrick Mahomes

Super Bowl MVPs almost always go to the quarterback of the winning team so if the Chiefs do, in fact, win the Super Bowl, Mahomes will almost assuredly win MVP.

Regular season MVP

Patrick Mahomes

Best in the world right now and its not even close.

 Patrick Mahomes

He didn’t throw a touchdown pass in Week 4. He will make up for it the rest of the way. He’s even better than he was a year ago.

Without CMC the would be 0-4 right now. He’s one of the most fun players to watch in football. If he can maintain his usage over the course of a full season he’ll be in consideration for this award.

Patrick Mahomes

Even his bad games are ridiculous. He threw for 315 yards and did not turn the ball over at all and led his team to a comeback victory over what increasingly looks like a pretty good team. Mahomes is the best player in the NFL until further notice.

Patrick Mahomes

This seems obvious. Mahomes won the award last year and he’s somehow better now.

Patrick Mahomes

The man is on pace to throw for 6,000 yards and although he probably won’t hit that number, he has a good chance to break the NFL single-season record (5,477), and if that happens, he’s definitely winning MVP.

Patrick Mahomes

I mean, duh. He’s on pace to throw for 6,040 yards and 40 touchdowns one year after becoming the second quarterback in NFL history to throw for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in a single season.

Defensive Player of the Year

Shaq Barrett

Cannot discount what he is doing, putting up historic pass rushing numbers in the first month of the season.

 Shaq Barrett

He has nine sack in four games and has been a disruptive force all season. Can he maintain it?

The defense is destroying people and Mack is a wrecking crew. Really have to feel bad for all the idiots who predicted regression for Chicago’s defense this year.

Shaq Barrett

This dude has nine sacks, seven tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hits, three forced fumbles, two passes defensed, and an interception in just four games. is still my pick to win this award by the end of the year, but Barrett has been the best defensive player in the league through four weeks.

Shaq Barrett

In three previous seasons in Denver, Barrett had 8.5 sacks. Through four games in Tampa, he has nine sacks, three more than the next closest player, defensive end .

Shaq Barrett

If Barrett just averages 1.1 sacks per game for the rest of the season, he’ll finish with the second highest sack total in NFL history. The man has been a wrecking ball through four weeks and he’ll definitely win this award if he keeps wrecking things for the next 12 weeks.

Shaq Barrett

He’s been the best defensive player in football through the first four weeks. While I’d still favor someone like Khalil Mack (my pick before the season) over Barrett in the long run, he’s built up such a big lead in the sacks department that he has a legitimate chance to hold off Mack.

Offensists they won’t dwell on defeat at Watford.Liverpool’s unbeaten run was brought to a juddering halt after 44 games – five short of Arsenal’s record run of 49 – by a Watford team battling against relegation in the biggest shock of the season so farsive Player of the Year

Christian McCaffrey

Makes it all go on the ground and through the air. On pace for a ridiculous amount of touches and I don’t see that changing.

 Patrick Mahomes

To think he’s been rolling up the big numbers without . What happens when he’s back?

 : Patrick Mahomes

He’s been electric and incredible in a follow up to his MVP campaign and it would hardly be surprising if he won a second MVP award.

Patrick Mahomes

You can’t convince me anyone is better at offense than he is right now.

Dalvin Cook

As it stands, Dalvin Cook is the Vikings’ offense. While continues to struggle with consistency Cook has put this team on his back, scoring 5 touchdowns, averaging 5.8 yards per carry, and ranking first among all backs in total value, according to Football Outsiders.

Christian McCaffrey

The NFL record for most scrimmage yards in a season is 2,509 and McCaffrey is currently on pace to break that. Even if he doesn’t break the record, I still see him taking home this award.

Christian McCaffrey

I picked CMC before the season. Considering he’s on pace to wind up with 2,516 yards from scrimmage, whichinsists he is “not on a moral crusade” over James Maddison’s casino visit. The Leicester playmaker earned a call-up to the England squad this week, despite the fallout from him visiting a casino after withdrawing from the last squad with the flu. While would break the NFL record as Breech above me noted, I don’t think it’s prudent to change my pick.

Offensive Rookie of the Year

Yeah its only been twodirector Stefan Reuter admits they considered recalling Southampton fullback Kevin Danso last month.Danso was interesting RB Leipzig and FC Koln.Reuter said, “We were concerned with that on the last day of the transfer window, but we didn’t do it. games, but what a two games it has been. Replacing a legend in The Big Apple, yeah, he is on the track.

Who saw this coming? He has been outstanding and may keep the job when comes back.

He missed Week 4 because of injury but Scary Terry (please stop trying to force McLaurin F1 or other nicknames) has been a revelation for the so far this year and the saving grace for that WR corps.

Terry McLaurin

One of the quarterbacks is almost surely going to win this award by season’s end, but F1 became the first player in NFL history to catch at least five passes and score a touchdown in each of the first three games of his career. He’s in the lead right now.

Gardner Minshew

We were skeptical if Nick Foles would be much of an upgrade over but we had no way of knowing that Minshew would be substantially better than either of them. Minshew has a lot to do with the Jags’ 2-2 start and if this team makes the playoffs, he’ll have a lot to do with that.

Gardner Minshew

Minshew Mania has taken over in Jacksonville, and for good reason, the rookie quarterback is doing things that no other rookie quarterback has ever done. If Minshew can will the Jags to eight wins, I think he’ll have a great shot at winning this award. Also, if he wills the Jags to eight wins, I might grow a mustache.

Gardner Minshew

If Minshew helps the reach the playoffs after everyone wrote them off twice — once before the season and another time when Nick Foles went down in Week 1 — I don’t think anyone can beat him.

Defensive Rookie of the Year

Love what the dynamic and versatile defensive back is bringing to a much-improved Green Bay defense.

 Darnell Savage

He has been a big part of why their defense has made strides. He can roam the middle of the field and cover like a corner.

The Panthers defense has been excellent and he’s at 2.5 sacks through five games, registering as a terror off the edge for Carolina early on in his career.

and Darnell Savage Jr.

I can’t decide between these two guys just yet. Both of them have been very good, for very good defenses.

Michigan teammates and were first-round picks in the spring but Winovich has had the biggest impact through four games, logging three sacks in limited playing time.

Nick Bosa

The have been a surprise team through four weeks, and a big part of that is due to the play of their defense. Bosa has helped revitalize a unit that had mostly struggled over the past two years.

Nick Bosa

At 23.5%, Bosa has , according to Pro Football Focus. The sacks should follow.

Coach of the Year

Andy Reid

Is this the year he finally gets his ring?

 Sean Payton

He has won two games against good teams without . At 3-1, his team is atop the NFC South.

 : Bill Belichick

He crafted the best defense he’s ever had. Matt Patricia would warrant consideration but he cost the Lions at least one win.

Sean McDermott

That defense is ridiculous, and McDermott’s team is 3-1 and nearly beat the Patriots.

Jason Garrett

This should really go to Kellen Moore, but the buck stops with Garrett so he gets the credit. The Cowboys’ offense is humming, Garrett’s staying out of the way, and that’s worth a quarter-pole award, as far as we’re concerned.

Bruce Arians

This prediction could end up backfiring, but I feel like the Bucs are going to be contending in the NFC South, and if Arians can get them to nine or 10 wins, he should be in the conversation for this award.

Bill Belichick

I’m of the opinion that if they actually gave this award to the best coach in football that Belichick would win every single season because he’s quite obviously the best coach in football. I think he has a legitimate chance to win it this year because of how dominant the defense has been. More matchups with the Bills, , and ‘ offenses can only help.

Comeback Player of the Year

Dalvin Cook

If he can avoid injury — which has been a big if — he could put up some astonishing numbers playing for a coach who really only wants to run the ball.

His numbers aren’t great, but his team is 3-0. That’s good enough for me.

People aren’t talking enough about how quickly he came back from his ACL tear in November last year. He looks incredibly explosive and he’s been the most reliable weapon for in the offense so far.

Cooper Kupp

He’s back from his torn ACL and looks essentially like the exact same player he was before the injury. Through four games, Kupp is on pace for a 128-1552-12 season, which is completely ridiculous. The Rams’ offense may be struggling, but Kupp is certainly not.

Cooper Kupp

Kupp missed the final half of the 2018 season after tearing his ACL but he has resumed his role as one of Jared Goff’s favorite targets. He has 32 receptions for 388 yards and 3 scores, and he leads the team in both targets and catches.

Jimmy Garoppolo

Although he hasn’t looked great this season, he does seem to be getting better every week, and if that continues to happen, the 49ers should be a threat to win the NFC West title.

Cooper Kupp

If the 49ers make the playoffs, it’ll be difficult for anyone other than Garoppolo to win, but through four weeks, it’s been Kupp who has been the most impressive candidate. He’s on pace for 128 receptions, 1,552 yards, and 12 touchdowns. That would work.

Giants claim Steelers’ preseason sacks leader after Pittsburgh tried to sneak him through waivers

has had an interesting summer.

Skipper, an undrafted rookie outside linebacker out of Toledo, earned a spot the ‘ 53-man roster after leading the Steelers in sacks during the preseason. Skipper was released on Saturday as thhester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised the fans of Singapore after victory over Inter Milan.Mason Greenwood scored the all-important goal after 76 minutes to condemn the Italian outfit to defeat.Solskjaer said, “Today was Old Trafford, foe Steelers promoted receiver  to the active roster prior to Pittsburgh’s season-opening loss to the .

Pittsburgh, which was likely hoping to reclaim Skipper once he cleared waivers, never had that chance. Instead of re-signing with the Steelers, Skipper was claimed by the on Monday, a team that is coming off a rough 35-17 loss to the in their season opener.

Skipper, who attended the ‘ rookie minicamp on a tryout basis before attending Pittsburgh’s rookie minicamp, jumped on radars following his breakout season with the Rockets in 2018. After registering just one sack during his first two years at Toledo, the 6-foot-3, 246-pound pass rusher racked up 8.5 sacks last fall. He also recorded 60 tackles (11.5 for loss) while also forcing two fumbles. He also scooped up two fumbester City at Meadow Park on Friday to send the Gunners into the quarter-final of the PL International Cup.With Tribalfootball in attendance, Balogun played a central role in winning Arsenal a first half penalty, before making it 2-0 with a stunning lers while helping the Rockets win four out of their final six games.

During the final weekend of the 2018 regular season, Skipper’s 2.0 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss helped Toledo defeat Central Michigan while cliat Chelsea.18-year-old Gilmour has two first-team appearances this season and has been training with Frank Lampard on a regular basis.”He is obviously improving all the time,” said Gemmill. “If you train and play with better players then it raises yonching a Rockets bowl bid in the process. Skipper earned Third-Team All-MAC honors following his productive season.

Skipper, who was reunited in Pittsburgh with fellow former Rockets (an undrafted OLB in 2018) and 2019 third-round pick , received extra reps during the preseason after Adeniyi sustained an injury. Skipper more than took advantage of his opportunity, recording 5.0 sacks and two forced fumbles during the preseason.

Skipper joins a Giants defense that failed to sack Cowboys quarterback once in Sunday’s loss. New York’s defense surrendered 494 yards that included 405 passing yards and four touchdowns from Prescott.

2020 NFL Draft Wide Receivers Watch: CeeDee Lamb moves to No. 2 spot, don’t sleep on Henry Ruggs

Jerry Jeudy has looked the part of WR1 through Alabama’s first two games of the season, and the guy who finished second to him in the Biletnikoff Award last year, Tylan Wallace, picked up right where he left off in 2018 for Oklahoma State.

There e’s positives to find from an underwhelming start to the season.Writing on his blog the Spaniard said United are lacking ruthlessness to kill off teams, such as Southampton, Crystal Palace and Wolves:“As I told you last week, I decided to move thisis a litany of studly receivers sandwiched between Jeudy and Wallace, and I could not write this article this week without an (honorable) mention for LSU’s Justin Jefferson, who, after his three-touchdown masterpiece against Texas, needs to be on the draft radar.

Oh and don’t forget about the other wide receiver at Alabama, Henry Ruggs. He’s a Ferrari.

Here’s the second edition of WR Watch.

1. Jerry Jeudy, Alabama: Stock Steady

Jeudy had three touchdowns on eight receptions for 103 yards in Alabama’s trouncing of New Mexico State. There weren’t any ridiculous displays of his freakish athleticism or refined receiver skill. Then again, that shows how good he is. He can have that type of stat line without it seeming like a gigantic day.

2. CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma: Stock Up, Slightly

Oklahoma severely outmatched South Dakota, and Lamb was a huge part of the Sooners getting out to a 28-0 lead at the half. He had six receptions for 144 yards with one score on the day. His most ridiculous grab wasn’t on the score. It was a deep shot from Jalen Hurts in which Lamb fell as the ball was arriving. Despite hitting the turf as the ball got to him, Lamb somehow reeled it in. He looks bigger yet still as dynamic as a year ago.

3. Laviska Shenault, Colorado: Stock Down

Shenault was surprisingly not a major factor in Colorado’s triumphant comeback against Nebraska. He finished with five catches for 31 yards and carried the ball three times for six yards. You saw tiny glimpses of the twitch he possesses at his size, but he was never able to get loose against the Huskers.

4. Jalen Reagor, TCU: Stock Steady

Reagor and the Horned Frogs were idle this week but head to West Lafayette to face Purdue this Saturday. Reagor vs. Rondale Moore! We can’t wait.

5. Tee Higgins, Clemson: Stock Steady

In wasn’t a stat-sheet filling day for Higgins against Texas A&M. But he flashed. In his four-catch, 70-yard afternoon against the Aggies of Texas A&M, Higgins got many clean releases and made a nice grab in which he showcased his hands-catching ability over the middle on an in-breaking route. Later, he was found by Trevor Lawrence down the seam and had to jump to get the football that was slightly behind him. He was a few yards short of scorinthe season.Anthony has joined Weymouth.Anthony joins a series of Cherries talents at the Terras as they continue their fight for promotion from the National League South under the tutelage of Under-21s Assistant Manager, Mark Molesley. Meanwhile, strg. Higgins also drew a defensive pass interference call in the red zone. Hagmayr told FCInter1908.it: “I was in ze, with his ability to beat the press, and his ball skills.

6. Ty Johnson, Minnesota: Stock Steady

After averaging fewer than 10 yards per grab in the season opener, Johnson averaged nearly 18 in the Gophers’ win over Fresno State, and he demonstrated his smooth, refined position-specific ability throughout. He glides past any type of press coverage at the line — although he doesn’t see it often — and on a slant displayed his seemingly innate ability to make the first defender miss with ease after catching the football. However, Johnson was again overshadowed by teammate Rashon Bateman who had seven receptions for 105 yards and a score.

7. Collin Johnson, Texas: Stock Down

In a potential first-rounder vs. first-rounder receiver-cornerback matchup, Johnson got locked down by LSU’s star corner Kristian Fulton for the vast majority of the game Saturday night in Austin. The 6-foot-5 wideout had three catches for 49 yards. He wasn’t able to consistently beat Fulton off the line nor did he create much separation at any level of the field. Lastly, he wasn’t able to assert his will via his on jump balls down the field. Johnson has to do the latter with regularity to finish this season as a top wideout prospect in a loaded class.

8. Bryan Edwards, South Carolina: Stock Up

Edwards took full advantage of the matchup against Coastal Carolina. He rebounded from a disappointing opening weekend in the loss to the North Carolina with five grabs for 112 yards and two scores. On the first score, Edwards lulled the defender to sleep by changing speeds in his route, and he plucked the ball with ease as it arrived. He was found downfield by stand-in quarterback Ryan Hilinski as he separated deep. Edwards has deceptive speed and outstanding ball skills at around 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds. Plus, he’s been productive for his entire career at South Carolina.

9. Henry Ruggs, Alabama: Stock Up, Slightly

Ruggs flipped the afterburners on early against New Mexico State when he scored on a 75-yard touchdown on a swing pass — that counted as a rush — on the first play from scrimmage. He’s insanely fast. He showcased his incredible burst on a few of his receptions, including his touchdown reception. The Alabama offense is bound to run through Jeudy and Jaylen Waddle, but Ruggs’ athleticism is super freaky.

10. Tylan Wallace, Oklahoma State: Stock Up

Wallace will challenge Ruggs as the most dangerous draft-eligible speedster at the receiver spot this season. He took a run-of-the-mill swing pass 69-yards to the house with sprinter speed down the sideline on Saturday. There was a lull from Wallace until the third quarter started — he took a run-of-the-mill comeback route 75-yards for the score. Yes, it was against McNeese State, but Wallace has frightening speed and can score from anywhere on the field.

Honorable Mention: Justin Jefferson, LSU

Jefferson was the recipient of a handful of stellar throws from Joe Burrow in LSU’s monstrous win on the road at Texas, but the junior wideout also absorbed a big hit in the end zone on his first touchdown, made an outrageous, leaping back-shoulder grab for a score, and took an intermediate connection to the house to seal the game on a 3rd and 17 late. After averaging 16.2 yards per catch in 54 receptions with six scores as a sophomore, Jefferson has 14 snags for 250 yards with four scores through two games.

Tom Brady has already ruled out one typical career path for when he finally retires from the NFL

At this point, it seems like something of a waste of time to speculate on what might do once he retires from the because, at this point, it seems like Tom Brady may never retire from the NFL.

But if there’s one thiline day with news that Tyler Cordner is signing for Ebbsfleet United. The 21-year-old will be there until January, when he may return or go out to another team.Cordner is joined by Jordan Holmes at his new club – with the latter having signed there png the quarterback seems to have ruled out already, it’s a future in coaching. The 42-year-old has said in the past that he doesn’t believe he’d be a good coach and that it likely wasn’t in the cards for him.

“Coaching wouldn’t be for me,” Brady said . “No, certainly not. I like playing. I wouldn’t be a good coach. I don’t have the patience to be a coach.”

Three years later, with the Patriots preparing to face off against Brady’s former teammate Mike Vrabel, who is now the head coach of the , the QB was once again asked about a possible future in coaching. He doesn’t seem tod midfielder Fede Valverde.Valverde came through the system at Penarol before leaving for Real where he is now starring.Forlan smiled: “I know him very well. The Spanish public likes him very much because he is calm and a good person. “Would I like h have softened on his stance — in fact, he seems to be even more emphatically against it.

His response to that possibility? “Oh hell no!”

Despite his refusal to stop being good at quarterback, it seems fair to wonder whether Brady would consider donning a headset, and also whether he’d make a good coach. He says he doesn’t have the patience to coach, but he clearly has the patience to help run and lead an offense for about two decades. Maybe there’s a significant disconnect between those two things, but maybe he’s just being humble.

Cowboys’ DeMarcus Lawrence reportedly expected to be activated from PUP list, eyeing NFL record

Some good news is on the way for the , and it’s by way of .

The All-Pro defensive end inked a five-year, $105 million contract extension in late April that made him the highest-paid player on the history of the franchise, and ended what had become a very contentious round of negotiations with the team that led to him weaponizing a torn labrum he battled through in 2018, delivering his second consecutive double-digit sack season in the process. Just days after signing his new deal, Lawrence went under the knife to have his shoulder repaired, and has since been placed on the physically unable to perform list to start training camp.

He’s suffered no setbacks in his rehabilitation and the conditioning that goes along with it, and that’s put him on track to uphold his promise of being available when the Cowboys host the in the season opener. Lawrence is expected to be activated from the PUP list soon, , in a report that runs parallel to the team’s view.

Speaking in mid-July from SportsCon in Dallas, Lawrence explained how he felt with training camp rapidly approaching.

“I’m doing great,” he said. “My shoulder’s doing great. My mobility is coming back naturally, so everything is on the up right now.”

Rushing Lawrence back to a full-blown workload wasn’t/isn’t something the Cowboys were/are willing to do, and they’ll reassess him soon before making a final determination on his PUP status.

Barring a massive setback of some sort in the next few days, Lawrence will be on the field in 2019 for the Cowboys, and he already has his eyes set on a top prize that could certainly help propel the club to a potich City boss Daniel Farke says they must learn from defeat at Crystal Palace.Farve says that everyone must stick together to make Carrow Ro revealed he spent five days training with Arsenal’s U23 side. The former Spurs academy product currently plays for ninth tier club Saffron Walden Town.He joined the club from Haverhill Town, where he had scored 15 goals in 24 appearances this term.Poad a fortress, following the club’s 2-0 away defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.“It was clear that there wential appearance. Having already heard perennial All-Pro linebacker declare his intention to take ownership of the league’s single-season sack record of 22.5 — set in 2001 by Hall of Fame pass rusher Michael Strahan — Lawrence wants in on the race. When asked if he’s thought about it at all, his answer was as potent as it was succinct.

“Absolutely,” he said emphatically. “My goal is to be the best to ever play this game, so you know for sure that I’m going to want to beat that sack record and make it my own — so he can talk about beating my record.”

Lawrence has been on pace to surpass the record twice in the last two seasons, before trailing off for a variety of reasons, and one was the aforementioned shoulder injury. Hey troubles are behind him after an impressive performance in Saturday’s loss to Manchester City. The World Cup winner has dealt with niggling injuries all season, limiting him to just six Premier League appearances. However after completing 90 minutes ‘s accumulated 25 sacks since the start of the 2018 season, matching Miller in that category. If there are three active players talented enough to finally take down Strahan’s already longstanding 18-year-old record, Miller and Lawrence account for two-thirds of that trio — with in Los Angeles being the obvious third — both Miller and Lawrence having also adopting pass-rushing techniques from future Hall of Famer linebacker .

Ware came close himself to surpassing Strahan with 20 sacks in 2008, and readily provides coaching to Miller and Lawrence.

The first step for the latter will be making sure he’s a full go on Sept. 8, and still careful to not overstep the authority of the Cowboys’ medical staff, Lawrence reaffirmed he’ll be ready — but not until he’s cleared medically.

“My main thing is to be ready by Week One,” he said.

All things considered, it sounds like he’ll definitely get reacquainted with soon.

Demarcus Lawrence’s agent on negotiations: ‘This was not going to be the Le’Veon Bell situation’

There were a lot of factors that complicated the contract negotiations between and the . It all ended with Lawrence getting a monster, five-year, $105 million contract, but things were not always easy.

Lawrence, unlike the other high-end edge rushers who hit free agency this offseason, had already been franchise-tagged last year, and shown that his breakout 2017 campaign was not a fluke. Because he had already been tagged, his 2019 salary was set to be around $20.5 million, which raised the price tag on a long-term deal. Also, Lawrence had been putting off shoulder surgery for nearly all of the past two years, and if he and the Cowboys wanted him on the field for Week 1, that operation needed to happen soon. (.)

So when Lawrence, his agent David Canter, and Stephen Jones got on a and things got tense, eventually the agent decided that the player should sign on the dotted line in order to stay where he wanted and having gotten almost everything he wanted out of negotiations in the first place.

“I knew then that fighting over a half-million dollars would do a disservice to my client,” Canter told Sports Illustrated. “I know that’s who my responsibility is to.”

Canter told Sports Illustrated that he and Lawrence set goals of $50 million cash flow in the first two years of the deal and $66 million in the first three, and eventually got $48 million and $65 million.

And ultimately, that was about, again, what the player really wanted, which was to stay put. Earlier in the process, Canter sent Lawrence a chart to show how Dallas’s offers stacked up financially against , , Flowers and .

In the end, among those five, he was third in APY (ae United.Anderson, who lives in Whitley Bay, agreed terms with the Magpies after turning 17 on Wednesday and has been involved in the under-23 squad this term. “I’m delighted to be signing a professional contract with Newcastle United,” the teenager verage per year), third in full guarantee, first in guaranteed APY, first in percentage of the deal fully guaranteed, first in Year 1 cash (factoring in deferments, etc.) and third three-year cashflow. Best of all, he got all of it right at home. And now the Cowboys can turn around and work on deals for , Zeke Elliott, and .

That’s pretty good!

Lawrence essentially reset the top of the non-Mack edge rusher market, which makes sense for a player of his caliber, who has racked up 25 sacks, 49 quarterback hits, 29 tackles for loss, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and two pass deflections over the past two years. “We were never going to turn down $20.5 million for one,” Canter said, per SI. “This was not going to r the rest of the season.Wague made his first team debut in a LaLiga Santander match against Huesca, and has played a total of six games for Barcelona. If he’s not activated within that window, he will have to sit out the entire season.

It should be noted that earlier this offseason, Hali went on a Twitter rant about his role on the team toward the end of last year, expressing displeasure with his lack of usage and wondering whether he is still needed in Kansas City.

With Hali out, 2014 first-rounder will likely resume his place opposite on the outside for the Chiefs. Ford made 14 starts and broke out with 10 sacks last season after totaling 5.5 during his first two years in the .
